Mobile Shoe Store

Red Wing has a long history of operating mobile retailers across the United States. So when it came time to replace their 400+ vehicle fleet, they approached Built to rethink and remake the platform from the ground up. I was part of a small team of designers assigned the task. We examined everything from the current vehicles to Red Wing’s portfolio of work wear, and how it moves from warehouse to truck. At the end of the project, we presented the fully operational prototype at Red Wing’s headquarters for their annual sales meeting.

Road to Retail in 12 Minutes

Time is money. Especially when you’re visiting customers on their lunch break. So, we designed Red Wing’s mobile shoe store around rapid deployment. Fast setup, fast take-down, fast restocking. Saving time on location, so fleet drivers can move on to the next. Maximizing sales through larger distribution territories. .

A Place For Everything

In retail SKU counts are king. But in a space as tight as the back end of a box truck, every inch needs to be optimized. We designed modular display racks, and loading carts that doubled as backstock storage and fold-down benches for customers. Through every step of the design and build process, we kept the customer in the loop with detailed renderings, schematics and photos.

Details Matter

From customer care to branded accessories to product labels, no detail was overlooked. We worked with Red Wing marketing and drivers to create a system that was simple to use and easy to update.
